Get fit with a Challenge 2010
Instead of joining a Gym as your new year resolution, which you’ll probably stay motivated enough to attend until the end of the month, but pay for until July? This year why not get outside, take in some fresh air and achieve something you’ll remember for the rest of your life?! There’s nothing like a target to keep you motivated! Happy New Year? Well maybe for some...
While wishing you’d spent less on Christmas and in particular the hangover you’re currently embracing this fine new year’s day, please spare a thought for press filled stories of charities severely hit by the financial crisis http://www.thirdsector.co.uk/bigIssues/details/58018/. Donations dropping, Corporate support disappearing, huge jobs cuts at major charities, reserves drying up, reduced return on investments, less and less money left in wills, £200m charity money gone in Icelandic bank collapse. Yet at the same time the last 12 months have seen a huge increase in demand for charity services. Perhaps not surprising as food prices increase, more people lose their jobs and homes, the elderly find it harder to pay steeper and steeper heating bills and yet are living longer, the NHS continues to cut services...
It’s the reason why in 2010 it’s more important than ever you dust off those hiking boots, running shoes, or whatever does it for you and achieve that lifelong ambition to run a half marathon, climb a mountain or just do something simple that you’ll enjoy, to support people in a worse position than you, but who are crying out for support like never before! So please join us: http://www.eventaiduk.org

That means they can do less of this:
Our inspiration and vision:
Today, the NSPCC is inspired by a belief that we can make a difference for all children – by standing up for their rights, by listening to them, by helping them when they need us and by making them safe. Our vision is ending cruelty to children in the UK. We believe cruelty is preventable and that through having an inspirational vision we will achieve much greater success for children.
Age Concern have more of us to look after as the nation ages and yet less money?!
"We are all growing older and many of us will live longer than previous generations. At Age Concern Oxfordshire we believe growing older should be a time of happiness and fulfilment. And we are passionately devoted to making that a reality for everyone growing older in Oxfordshire. We are independent, experienced and local." http://www.ageconcernoxon.org.uk/
How will ROSY continue to provide?:
"ROSY - Respite nursing for Oxfordshire’s Sick Youngsters is an organisation that raises an awareness of the need for respite nursing and funds to boost the extremely limited resources of the Oxfordshire’s Children’s Respite Nursing Team, who offer respite nursing to terminally, acutely or chronically ill children and babies in their homes." http://www.rosy.org.uk/
How will SpecialEffect strive to develop new technology?
"dedicated to helping ALL young people with disabilities to enjoy computer games. For these children, the majority of computer games are simply too quick or too difficult to play, and we can help them and their parents to find out which games they CAN play, and how to adapt those games that they can't." http://www.specialeffect.org.uk/
